Optimisation Team Lead - Supply Chain

The Supply Chain Optimisation Lead is responsible for modelling scenarios, developing new tools, mining and organising data, managing projects to improve Country Road Group’s supply chain. This role leads the optimisation team in analysing the network, identifying opportunities for reducing lead times, minimising costs, and enhancing service levels to better meet customer needs.  

The Supply Chain Optimisation Lead also supports the implementation of complex projects and builds new capabilities across the value chain, ensuring that the supply chain remains agile, responsive, and aligned with business goals. 

The Optimisation Lead will contribute to and oversee multiple projects in parallel which requires re-prioritising according to business needs conflicting priorities.  

This role is also responsible for leading, inspiring and cultivating a high performing team that attracts and retains top talent in a fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders. We are looking for a competent problem-solver, who enjoys modelling, optimising, scenario-planning, and maintains level-headed when faced with conflicting priorities and looking at complex problems. 

 

Key Accountabilities 

  • Enhance CRG’s decision-making using optimisation, algorithm design, statistics, and machine learning. 

  • Support and coordinate across supply chain functions with a holistic, objective approach. 

  • Focus on transportation design, labour/resource planning, capacity planning, system accuracy, and process efficiency. 

  • Develop models to simulate, optimise, predict, and control the supply chain, improving cost, speed, and customer experience. 

  • Analyse the downstream network to identify opportunities for cost reduction, lead time improvements, and service enhancement. 

  • Execute complex, cross-functional projects to optimize processes and build new capabilities. 

  • Collaborate with logistics, distribution, and production teams to align initiatives with business goals. 

  • Define and track KPIs to drive and monitor continuous supply chain improvements. 

  • Scope, plan, and lead/support major sourcing and supply chain initiatives. 

  • Create & foster an inclusive environment where all team members can thrive and feel included, respected and safe. Set clear expectations of behaviour and hold self and others accountable 

Key Capabilities  

  • Experience in a similar role in leading optimisation across Supply Chain operations, preferably network optimisation, fulfilment operation, lead time reduction, and cost management.  

  • Proven experience in planning and executing projects from concept through to implementation 

  • Ability to develop mathematical representations of complex business problems and translate them into solvable models. 

  • Ability to maintain performance, focus, and composure when faced with tight deadlines, shifting priorities, or unexpected challenges 

  • A motivated individual with strong analytical and algorithmic skills and practical experience with the ability to develop mathematical representations of complex business problems and translate them into solvable models. 

  • Expertise in analysing large datasets to inform supply chain strategy and decision-making, with a focus on driving efficiency and service improvements.  

  • Experience with linear programming, mixed-integer programming, constraint programming along with a strong foundation in statistical modelling (i.e. Regression analysis, Bayesian methods, and Monte Carlo simulations) and common programming languages (Python, R) 

  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles, particularly in downstream network optimisation, lead time reduction, and cost management.  

  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams, fostering collaboration, and building a culture of continuous improvement.  

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across procurement, logistics, and planning functions.
