At Country Road Group, we have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Childrenswear Design to join our Country Road (CR) family, leading a team of talented Designers.

Reporting to the Country Road Creative Director, you will be responsible for creating and communicating the overall design vision of the CR Childrenswear products, ensuring alignment with the brand's aesthetics and strategic objectives, including brand purpose and customer definitions.

You will enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams across Buying, Planning, Product Development, Marketing and E-Commerce as well as Retail to ensure the range meets the company’s strategic goals and financial targets, maintaining the brand’s integrity, market positioning, as well as ensuring the product expression is consistently executed, season on season. 

As a critical part of the CR leadership team, you will embrace and be excited by change. You will be a collaboration guru and lead a safe and inclusive environment that inspires and cultivates a high performing team.

 How you will contribute

  • Demonstrate thought leadership through the discovery of the latest trends in design, colour, fabric and print.
  • Research and forecast forward trends and colour concepts to present to key stakeholders each season.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to regularly update on in-season updates, ideas and inspiration.
  • Collaborate with the Buying team to ensure design decisions are commercially sound.
  • Provide direction and maintenance on concept and colour trend boards, as well overseeing fit, material and construction of product to ensure it aligns with the brand.
  • Partner with Creative Director, brand leader, Buying, VM, Customer & Digital and Marketing teams on translating the design vision into store, online and marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee Design team to create concepts and design products that meet the brands creative and aesthetic objectives, quality and functionality, regulatory and safety requirements and work within the parameters set by the Planners and Buyers.
  • Collaborate with Buying, Product Development and Planning teams to develop products in line with brand guidelines and codes, on time and within margin parameters.
  • Lead and motivate team members to work in a cohesive manner to achieve the brand vision and direction.
  • Drive a performance driven culture through a focus on the development of team members skills and capability.
  • Embrace transformation and change while facilitating and enabling a strategic shift with clarity, empathy and optimism.
  • Collaborate across group, building team cohesion and connection, to inspire and bring our House of Brands strategy to life. 

Capabilities we value

  • Bachelor's degree in Design or other related experience.
  • Extensive experience within Design, with expertise in a leadership role across Childrenswear.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Strong understanding of local and overseas market and fashion trends.
  • Ability to identify key trends and create and implement seasonal product vision.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels within a dynamic environment.
