We are a Design-Led Brand, obsessed with accessories. Born in Melbourne in 1996 with a passion for creativity, we create contemporary designs that empower individual style and self-expression. 

A day in the life of a Bag Designer at Mimco is fast paced, diverse and fun, where creativity, craftsmanship and innovation come together in every detail. From emerging talent through to more experienced designers, we’re looking for creative talent to join our team. 

From identifying trends and shaping seasonal direction to designing standout accessories across bags and small leather goods, you will turn inspiration into commercially successful collections. 

Working closely with Buying, Merchandising and suppliers, you will bring concepts to life from sketch to store. If you have a strong eye for materiality, construction and elevated design and love seeing your products out in the world, we would love to hear from you! 

How You Will Contribute 

  • Design and develop products aligned with brand strategy that fulfill customer needs and provide ongoing innovation in designated categories 
  • Align product details and aesthetics across categories to ensure monthly collection cohesion. Ensure the collection resonates with target customer 
  • Work with the wider design team on product design and development before range sessions with the Head of Design, Buyers and Production Manager 
  • Oversee the completion of briefing sheets for all styles within nominated categories, ensuring they are handed over to the Technical Designer according to the critical path 
  • Lead fit direction with the Technical Designer to maintain consistent fit and high-quality workmanship 
  • Communicate styling adjustments post-fittings to the Merchandise Planner, Buying and Production Manager, addressing any design concerns, potential delays, or price adjustments 
  • Review weekly sales reports to analyse best sellers, sell-through rates, and any issues with specific styles or colours. 

Capabilities We Value   

  • Qualification or industry experience in design
  • Experience in Leather, Accessories highly desirable 
  • Strong creative eye with the ability to turn briefs and trends into commercial designs 
  • Confident communicator and collaborative team player 
  • Open to feedback and able to adapt designs to meet brand goals 
  • Highly organised, detail-focused and deadline driven 
  • Commercially minded with a strong understanding of the customer.
