We’re looking for an experienced Sustainability Specialist to join the Country Road Group on a fixed term contract. In this role, you’ll be responsible for providing strategic guidance to brands and business units on developing and implementing sustainable fibre, materials, and product design strategies. You’ll guide compliance with sustainability claims, lead impact initiatives, and foster industry partnerships that are aligned with our Good Business Journey (GBJ) goals.
Key Accountabilities
Support and advise the development of product strategies, roadmaps and KPIs for Country Road Group, aligned to the Good Business Journey
Provide ongoing advisory support to brands / BUs for sustainable product strategies, including supporting Sourcing team with traceability and standards
Co-ordinate and manage Group-wide projects and pilots relating to product sustainability and circularity initiatives
Monitor industry, media, regulatory developments, including certification program revisions, and advise Country Road Group for strategic direction as appropriate
Develop resources and facilitate delivery of sustainable product and claims related education
Continuous research, benchmarking and identification of opportunities to collaborate and invest in best practice to support brand / BUs’ sustainable product related goals and KPIs
Key Capabilities
Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a sustainability related role
Experience with sustainable materials programs and certifications (e.g. Better Cotton, Leather Working Group, GOTS, Textile Exchange standards, Canopy, FSC, etc)
Experience with and understanding of Australian greenwashing regulations and application to sustainability claims in the fashion industry
Experience in buying or supply chain environment, with farm, fibre and factory knowledge, highly regarded
Experience with development and implementation of strategy, project plans and internal communications plans
Commercial acumen and experience implementing sustainable materials and product programs in a retail setting, highly regarded
Experience working with management and influencing stakeholders
Interpersonal communication, relationship management, negotiation and people skills
Ability to build, sustain and influence relationships
