As the Technical Designer for Bags & Smalls, you will provide sound technical advice to designers, production managers and buyers on how the desired style and fit can be achieved. You will also be responsible for the technical design brief pack which is sent to the vendor, ensuring quality standards are met throughout. If technical issues are to arise, you will actively troubleshoot with stakeholders, presenting options and solutions aligned to the brand/Group objectives and to ensure vendors have all necessary information to commence production. 

Key Accountabilities

• Provide technical advice and support to the team regarding styling and fitting requirements
• Create and maintain accurate technical packs in the PLM system for all styles, or through an agreed manual process if no system is available
• Establish and maintain appropriate construction standards across all categories with suppliers, ensuring alignment with the brand’s quality expectations
• Pre-measure, QC check, steam and prepare all samples prior to fitting sessions. Identify variances and workmanship or construction issues and clearly communicate them during the session
• Ensure products are produced according to technical specifications, such as material requirements, dimensions, and tolerances
• Ensure bags and smalls readiness for bulk production including QA approval across fabric and garment and Tech Pack accuracy and completeness
• Ensure that products meet regulatory and safety requirements, such as product labelling and packaging
• Establish strong communication channels with designers, the production team and external suppliers to ensure company strategic initiatives and targets are met.

Key Capabilities

• Proven product development experience, ideally with leather accessories design and manufacturing
• Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop, for technical design purposes
• High level of attention to detail, ensuring precision in product development and quality assurance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitating effective collaboration with team members and suppliers
• Negotiation skills are highly regarded, aiding in supplier management and product pricing discussions.
